about
"Shoehorn" is about struggles that come along in relationships. (Any type of relationship. Not just boyfriend, girlfriend; but also father, mother, friends...) It highlights the need to find compromise when you're in a partnership with another human and shows what can happen when you blame the other person for not wanting to change. In end, the couple must go their separate ways and through the heartache.. must learn to accept it and move on: "You know... it's okay. We'll float on"
lyrics
[Verse 1]
It’s hard to tell what’s left
when nothing here seems right
I’m just too full to keep on swallowing my pride
I try so hard to bend
I won’t continue to pretend
These means we’re working with
Are leading to an End
[Pre-Chorus]
Well I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me the most
But it’s hard to feel sorry when I also needed you
[Chorus]
Well I don’t wanna
be the one to change.
But I know, now, it’s hard to
look the other way…
[Verse 2]
Pushed into corners only just so I’ll agree
a disagreement would shoehorn diplomacy
I’ll take this day by day
and you’ll want things a different way
But that’s alright I’ll seem as if it’s all okay
Our heads are different but were keeping up the pace
until my destiny is soon to be erased
[Pre-Chorus]
Well I’m sorry I wasn’t there when you needed me the most
But it’s hard to feel sorry when I also needed you
[Chorus 2]
Still you don’t want to
be the one to pay!
Well we, yeah, I guess we’ll have to
go our separate ways…
[Outro]
You see, it’s hard…
‘Cause you’re already gone.
Could it really be that it was me?
The one to push you away
Oooh. You know, it’s okay.
Oooh. We’ll float on…
